May i ask where you are going? cinema, pub, opera :D ?
If you're going to the cinema something as simple as buying and sharing a popcorn tub might work?

Avoid cinema. Go to the pub, get pissed and get a load of dirty thoughts into her head... don't be boring.

she won't be getting pissed, nor will she be that interested in someone who does.
bring her to a nice little restaurant and as Az said, flirt

And don't do anything to make her feel sorry for you. For example, talking about your asshole parents, bitch ex-girlfriend, money problems, shyness, etc.

Exactly, Italians love that romance crap ... buy her flowers, open the door for her .. Lots of long looks into her eyes .. etc etc

Getting her drunk and trying to shift her (they still call it shifting?) is a no no
