Network woes

I'm having a little trouble setting up a network and was hoping someone here could help.

    So:

I've got a 20mb/s cable interweb connection running from a cable modem into a wireless router (BLW-54PM). Connected to this router, through lan cables, are two laptops. The router is set to assign ips, and the two laptops are set to be assigned ips.

Both computers are able to connect to the internet through the router (both wirelessly and wired). However, every now and again (in a period of anything from 2 to 30 minutes or so), the connection will drop and the laptop will lose its internet connection. It will, after a period of a minute or so, resume receiving information.

Does anybody know why this is happening? Better still, does anybody know how it can be fixed?

    Thanks in advance!

When connectivity resumes, do they have the same IP as before? or has DHCP given them a new one?

As far as I know, it's the same one each time. I'll check again next time it happens though.

    Yep, same IP. Argh.

Just to clarify, the laptop doesn't appear to disconnect from the network. However, any connections to websites etc will time out.

There might be a config interface you can access through a browser or telnet... you'd want to find out what its IP is though... either that or maybe the wireless router would have a config interface that'd tell you the IPs of all attached nodes... hum.
Try a tracert www.eircom.ie from your laptop... might list the cable modems IP on the first 1 or 2 hops... or just the wireless router, or both... eh, or none. It's worth a shot at any rate.
    Not huge on routers tbh.
