They seem to be getting rid of more and more pcs in UCD so it looks like ill have to get a laptop for my final year. Im doing engineering so it will have to be pretty powerful and therefore even more expensive. Im looking at the one in lidl. Its fairly high spec. has anyone here ever bought a laptop in lidl or aldi. the specs for the one in lidl for €1500 are on this website :

2 niggles for me with that laptop.(Electronic Engineer here)

Screen Resolution is a bit low for a 17"
17" is a heavy thing to carry around, are you ready for that.

other than that i like the laptop.

The acer aspire 5024 has those specs cost around 1400
My acer Ferrari 4005 also (although it costs ~2000)

    Also

The Fugitsu Amilo M1437G is also very popular with
users on boards. cost around 1500

None of the above have tv tuners

looks very nice. You're not going to get a better deal in other Irish shops.

You would be crazy to pay this much for a student Laptop, get a second hand one at least till you finish your studies
