Morris Minor

    Hey,

I recently got into the classic car gig, I picked up the interest from my Uncle who's big into restoring cars. Anyway during the summer I picked up a 1971 3door Morris Minor, not the rarest but still a pretty cool little car.

The major problem with it though, is while its a cool car is rusty. Really, really rusty! I've very little experience with restoaration but I think the frame of the car is a lost cause.

The mechanics are good though, so if I could take out the engine and the mechanics etc and put it on a good frame I could make something of it. I was just wondering, is it possible to buy in Ireland just the frame of a Morris Minor, or does anyone know of a Morris for sale with a good frame that I could use?

    Cheers!

My advice to you is to buy the best car available for the money because you'll spend a fortune doing up the one you have and probably won't finish it. Remember you also need equipment to restore the one you have and that also costs money. I'm sure I've seen plenty of restored Morris Minors for sale that have already had fortunes spent on them at realistic prices in the Buy and Sell and similar magazines. I hate to sound pessimistic here but believe me when I tell you that the novelty soon wears of when you have a car stripped to pieces in a workshop and realise that most of it is scrap. Good luck with it if you choose to restore as the Morris is fairly straightfoward to restore and new parts are available at a reasonable price.
