Apologies about the delay in replying.
Red Cross is an international organisation (red crescent in some countries for religious reasons of using cross). In Ireland since 1939. We do a lot of different things
    1. first aid and ambulance service. We're the biggest provider of first aid certs in the country in basic and occupational (work) first aid certs. Onto this, members train in more advanced skills (including defibrillators, oxygen) in local branches where ambulance is usally based and people book us for cover at events usually concerts, horse trials etc etc. Most ambulances are less than 4 years old transits. Level of commitment and time is totally up to person. Its great craic to meet people and see different side of events.
    2. Handcare, learning for the do hand massage etc as a way to visit elderly and chat with them while giving some form of relaxtion to them. We also do skin camoflague for people who are scarred or features they don't like e.g. very red skin etc.
    3. Fundraising for disasters, tsunami etc.Big thing in lots of branches.
    4. Youth, such as clubs, organising discos etc
    5. Mountain rescue in Wicklow in Glen of Immal
    6. Water rescue in some lakes in midlands and west
There are many more roles also but these are main ones, if you want details of your locality, ring hq on 01-6765135 or www.redcross.ie and they'll put you in contact wit right person or ask me!! Go on Join!!
