Kurth is brilliant, We had him in first year. DIdn't think much of him, untill it came to the exam and we realised he'd actually covered the matierial very well. Now we have him in third year, and it feels such a joy to have a decent lecturer

He's a bit of a legend and seems like a really nice guy. I saw him up in his office once sitting on one of those bouncy balls instead of a chair working on the computer.

He may be a good lecturer but i really wish everyone would shut up in his lecture. AGH it annoys me so much, i can't hear what he is saying and people are firing paper aeroplanes around or generally just chatting. He should just walk out.
Do people have this problem in other lectures? because for me it only happens in his lecture and it pi$$es me off to the extent that i don't want to go to his lecture...

So i think he is a nice guy, hilariously funny (acapulco... heehee), but needs to work on the ol' discipline front

Not for about three years, since JF chemistry when there was ~300 people all packed into the goldsmith hall. Even then I don't remember any paper aeroplanes. Any lectures I'm in nowadays people just tend to be riveted on every word the lecturer says even when there's ~60+ people in the class. Bleedin swats

Paper aeroplanes have hit him (his hand) and the board (plenty of times) during his lectures, it's a disgrace. I've complained to my rep but he's done nothing. I don't mind small chatter, but when his voice is inaudible over the rest of the lecture hall enough is enough.
Anyone know what can be done?

He always sits on that ball instead of a chair, tis deadly...

i had it in 2E3, went to one lecture, it was such insanity i left after 10mins...better things to be doing if i ain't actually listening...(thankfully it was a shockingly easy course so didn't need to go).

Personally i'd talk to the lecturer and course cordinator...its possible you might get those people ejected/sent to junior dean etc...
