are women more materialistic then men?? i know members of both sexes can be very materialistic but in general do you think women are more materialistic ? they seem to be always talking about material things like clothes houses holidays restaurants etc whereas the average man seems happy to have a basic standard of living once he gets regular sex regular male bonding sessions watching sports etc and has enough money to go on the beer regularly.

Hmmmm, I'm not sure. I shocked and awed myself today by considering getting a mug I liked the look of....

These "differences between men and women" threads are depressing, like bad stand-up comedy. (Sorry OP!)

I'm very very very materialistic. Who needs love if you're loaded like me.

I dunno if women are more materialistic than men, but I DO know that shoes make me very, very happy. I bought a lovely pair of shoes yesterday and was proudly showing them to my friends today. I held the box like it was a newborn baby and felt as protective of the shoes as if they were my own child.

    Those were damn sexy shoes.

Think it depends on a few things.
    Where you're from
How much disposable income you have
    What age you are
    What your interests are
    Who your peers are
... and prob a few more
I can be quite materialistic ..
like I won't buy certain brands, wont socialise in certain places, can have expensive taste sometimes ... but in general I think it would be 50/50

There is no difference. Some people are, some aren't but one thing is that at least men are materialistic about decent things like cars, mp3 players and stuff like that whereas women like sh!te like face cream, shoes and hair straighteners.

For all the feminists out there, my tongue is very firmly placed in my cheek in that last comment... K. don't get your collective knickers in a twist!

Diamonds are a girl's best friend.

    For men, it's a dog.

    'Nuff said.

I personally believe it's the other way around. The alpha male likes to come home to his wife, his dinner on the table, the warm fire etc etc. The alpha woman wants material shiny things like diamonds/gold/silver.

True, but only to feel secure. Men like the power and ego money can bring.

In general I would say yes they seem more attached to things than guys, clothes, shoes and jewellery etc but well that's just the people I know.
Don't think you can give a big broad generalisation...

as the song goes "girls dont like boys girls like cars and money"

Maybe its just me but I find some girls to be a bit materialistic.

Girls seem to take a sudden interest in me when they hear I drive a nice car and have a sports boat...

Theyre easy to spot tbh... ditzy cows. I'm glad im in a solid relationship that I know has nothing to do with my posessions (Shes feel nervous in cars and is scared sh1tless of the boat!)

I'm an anti-materialist myself. Living in a frugal house. No excessive comforts that I am indoctrinated to believe that I need. Just plain and simple.

Yeah they're definetly more materialistic. But even worse than that is that they're actually more addicted to the process of buying items than they are of even possessing them.

That's untrue!Cut the fakking stereotypes and you will have a variety of women. Most of whom will surprise you.
