Im not sure it could be internet explorer that's the problem or java. I would recommend you download Firefox at www.mozilla.org and check if its the same problem and let us know.

It's your internet security settings. Something is blocking scripting, most likely Javascript.

What's that icon in the system tray? The one that looks like a doctor's stethoscope. If that is a security system and has some kind of ActiveX/Javascript blocking mechanism, it could be your problem.

Norton could be blocking pop ups and images it thinks are ads. Try disabling it and see if it makes a difference. Also check IE security settings as someone else suggested.

I think the script blocking is used for scripts on the computer, not actual web site scripts etc..

Maybe try resetting the security level back to default in Internet Options.

em - the website script does run from your computer - the script is (Or all the code is) held in your 'Internet Explorer' cache folder. The browser then reads this information and displays the information as required by the java or active-x script, Very rarely is any information run online but this is becoming more prominant as connection speeds have risen. It probably is Norton causing the problem, (As usual).

If it was me I'd switch to Opera or Firefox, un-install norton (It's garbage anyway) - install AVG or Avast and Zone Alarm, plus install a sun java pack. (Latest version is 5.06 I think)... Upto your self but I wouldn't allow Active-x scripts anywhere near my comp and I never use I.E., even if they say they have fixed it (As if - in your dreams Bill lol).

Of note here, is a lot of people don't realise just how much is 'Cached' in there 'Internet' caches. It can very quickly build up and as it is mostly old code it can (And does) cause havoc with systems. Your connection used to be quite fast? Recently it's slowed? First thing I check is how many 'Persistant Cookies' have you in your cookie cache ? Get two or three and they'll slow you down. Most decent Anti Spyware programs remove these but it is one to watch out for... ;)

I think what Wolverine meant was that the script the option referred to was scripts attached to emails and not javascript etc.

smeggle, your right about my connection its speed has decreased, but i want to be able to use i.e, which sounds crazy probably to you, but i sometimes delete the cookies yet after the reult is still the same

anymore suggestions to keep ie running smoothly would be grand
