Monday 12th I will be going to Las Vegas on my Honeymoon, for about a week. I am (we are) staying in the Monte Carlo Hotel.
I would prefer to play stt's than cash game. Where should I go and what are the approx buyins?

Ok i know absolulely nothing about playing poker in vegas, I know even less about being married. But I'd recommomend not mixxing cash games, or STT with your honeymoon :D

i'd say screw the lady and play poker.

*you can take the screw the lady comment whichever way you want ;)

It depends on your bankroll. There are some great value tournies out there, like in the Palms and the Bellagio but they are expensive.

Theres a great $1/$2 NLH cash game at Harrahs (tell them the guy who has all their money says "hi!" :):p ).

Also check out Wynns poker room, its so OTT it hurts (but its also kinda cool!)
    along with its Ferrari showroom.

Btw, use a condom, you'll probably be gambling enough already :p

    DeV.

I dont know anywhere that does STTs, if you get a whole day to play the Bellagio has single table sattelites from 10am or so for their 500 tournament that starts at 2 (its 1000 on friday and saturday)

Was in Vegas this summer but didn't do much gambling as I was only 20. Really wanted to hit a few stt's but I didn't want them taking my money if I won any :/
Not to mention I was broke...damn strippers :(

To avoid any pitfalls bring the new wife (you'll become accustomed to that word fairly quickly!) to either of the outlet centres. Las Vegas Outlets out past the airport or the premium outlets near the old downtown area. (shuttle bus from Aladdin carpark.

Both equally as good. Premium Outlets has more designer (american designers) stuff, whereas the other outlet centre is more everyday brands Hilfiger, Levi's, Greg norman, Rockport etc etc.

Then take her to Gioja Jewelers in the Aladdin parade of shops and get her a nice pair earings / additional ring etc etc. Make sure you get 40% off the marked price. - This is the level of discount they are permitted to go and its priced into the goods anyway!

Finally, with herself well happy, go for Poker, avoid the swanky joints as the better players / more intelligent Americans will normally be in the better hotels.

Excalibur Hotel has good poker rooms and the quality of play (last February anyhow) was abysmal - even I won a couple fo hundred bucks and I certainly would not consider myself a poker player. (only sell the stuff!!!)

Enjoy the trip - take a helicopter tour of Canyon - amazing!

Try this - its the Luxor 4 star. Usually $159/ night. That week is $69/ night & when you stay 3 you get a fourth free.

Is this really true? I've never been to Vegas but I would have guessed the fancy hotels would be the places to find rich gamble-happy tourists. Anyone else have an opinion one way or the other?

    excellent info posted above,
I was going to say MGM or Palms...but I would
say for most fun the palms...while you are playing poker your wife can go to the ghost bar on the roof.....something you really shouldnt miss ;) check out the glass payne that extends over the bldg that you can stand on and look down to the sidewalk. :)
Also best for poker Ive heard.

Its downtown so youll end up spending a fair bit on taxis to the strip other than that its a great deal - the rollercoaster on top of the stratosphere looks mental

I stayed in the Tropicana, right in the middle of the strip, across the road from the MGM. It was very cheap too, $75 in the middle of the summer. It's a bit old but spotless clean and there are mirrors in the roof over the bed!!!!

Unfortunately due to excessive alcohol and poker abuse I never got to see any action to test out the views on the mirror!!!! Thank god some might say!!

Stayed in the Strat on honeymoon as well. It's nice, a little away from everything else, but there's also a free bus shuttle linking with some of the main spots along the way, so you won't be totally dependent on taxis. The rollercoaster and freefall at the top are indeed completely mental.
