I'm repairing a friends pc and want to test the systems stability under load.

What software do you recommend for this task ? Don't need results really - just need to put the CPU and motherboard under load for a few hours while I walk away, and ensure it doesn't crash.

Also people talk a lot about prime 95 for stress testing but I cant say I've used it myself.

    followup question on this.

I've run the Prime95 "torture test" and my PWM temp went from 43 on 'idle' to 69 while running the test.

This is a P4 Northwood based system.

Is this PWM temp too high ?

CPU was at 38, to 57
    System temp 36, to 39

    thanks
