its open to any student from any college, or indeed anyone who is in the 18-24ish bracket as we can play dumb and say we thought they were students. DIT Staff are also allowed to play. but no seasoned pro's!! that said if donnacha o'dea or andy black turned up we'd let them play and put a bounty on their head!! BRING YOUR MATES!"!

Yeah lookin forward to each part of it.

Dyou reckon you'll get decent numbers for the omaha tourney? Might play in it meself as Ive never played it live before and its cheap enough to try

i figure a pepperoni pizza from domino's is about 10euro!

for the omaha, we had 50 players last week and loads of them were saying they were up for playing the omaha. it'll prob be 15min blinds, 2k starting chips, 1 rebuy. probably will have a player limit cos we need it to end by 1.30pm so we get the poker tables back by 2pm.
DID I MENTION WE ARE BRINGING IN PROPER POKER TABLES?!??! :)

Yeh you guys should host another one after that, I'd play and i kno a fair few of my mates would ... Final Table before xmas would be well handy!

what we'll do is ask around on thursday and see if there is much demand for a game on the lastthursday of term, if we reckon we'll get at least 30+ then happy days and we'll run another....

someone asked me if this was pot limit omaha or limit omaha.... i had assumed it would be No Limit Omaha, like no limit holdem... is there an issue with NL Omaha?

PL Omaha is the way you should play it imo, NL Omaha is played in some places around the internet but it makes for a worse game. Only problem with PL Omaha is counting the pot and knowing how much each bet can be, some dealers know how to do this other dealers don't. If the Omaha game is self-dealt then it a recipe for disaster.

I reckon that the vast majority of people playing in the omaha game on thursday wont have played before.
Nl omaha will make for an absolute bloodbath and to be honest I cant see it lasting too long if thats the case.
I'll leave it up to you to decide if this is a good thing or not :)

as for pot limit omaha. Is the rule that you can just double the amount of the pot yea?
I cant see this being too much of a problem as long as each pot is placed in stacks or what have you for ease of counting

everyone i have asked says PL is the way to go, but we prob wont have dealers, unless myself and anto bite the bullet and deal 2 tables and limit the game to 20 players.

Part of me think 5 euro NL omaha "the bloodbath" would be great craic... we only have 2 and half hours for it so we'll make it up as we go! anyone got a good tourny structure for an omaha game, say up to 30 players, 3hr time limit??? any help would be great!

Yea we'll have to get the calculators out, paper, pens etc! Ah no whatever happens, happens. Like pot limit is the best buts its only a bit of a laugh for a fiver so theres no real need to get all "world series" like. Just make sure everyones bet is clear and not just flung into the pot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,924 ✭✭✭shoutman

    i agree with rag

there should be no problem as long as people use there heads. Have a rule that if the bet is just flung into the pot, the person who does so (the flinger if you will) gets a good flogging,

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,860 ✭✭✭ditpoker

the flinger should get flung from the tourney... i agree with not getting all WORLD SEIRES on it, we'll prob make it 5e with 1 rebuy, NL so if you wanna go crazy happy days!!!
