I must be building up a some resistance to the gargle, ive had about 6 bottles of corona and 7 pints tonite and i wasn't that gargled,i was well on but i know many people wouldn't be able to stand after that, shocking though still spent the guts of €80+ whereas if i would've stayed at home at got a case of beer for a 1/3 of the price i would've been locked,fu*k this rip off country:(

Mate, this is Treasure Ireland after all. I STILL can't get over the five euro pint in some places, problem is, people pay it and will continue to do so. How long until buying a pint with a tenner gets you less than a euro in change?, I give it three years!..

    Three possible solutions:

1/ Move somewhere it is cheaper
    2/ Give it up
    3/ Put up with it

Drink at home before going out... Thats what I and my friends do when we're broke, then just have one or 2 in the club... save a fortune, then again... I have a better night when Im not "gargled" 1 or 2 usually does me when out dancing.. I just go out to shake ma aaaaaaasss :D

Heres's your problem. Look at your location.

Dublin is far more expensive than most of the rest of the country. And for the life of me I can't figure out why, given that there is far more scope for "vote with your feet" in the city.

Is that an indication of its size?

thinly veiled *attempt* to 'boast' about how much drink he can take?
    well done.

    No

    2/ Give it up
    No chance

    3/ Put up with it
Why should i or anyone else put up with it?It's high time people rallied against this rip off culture that affects us all:(

Not even to another pub? In this case, you are putting up with it. Paying up for it too, I might add.

It only affects you unless you do something about it, such as change establishment.

A lot of dublin pubs now do all pints 3 euro nights or have it all the time..

It's your economic duty to society to scope out and find the places that don't overcharge, inspite of their advertising affecting your subconscious. They are around, you will promote comepetition by doing this.

Yeah, I've been trying to figure out this one myself for a while.

Drinking a bottle of wine at home, and then hitting the pints in the pubs seems to work for me! Can get well drunk on about €25 for that (wine + 3 pints.)

To be honest I must be getting old(33),wanting to get Well drunk ,why?. Why cant you just go out and have a few pints and have a laugh and enjoy the social side of things.

By buying it you are putting up with it though. If you are really passionate about lowering the price of alcohol, you should boycott places that charge more than what you see as fit for a pint.

You said it, "I must be getting old".

Note: I can have a laugh and be social when drunk.

Drinking before going out is key, but sometimes leads to refusals etc... Still, its worth it, and if at first you don't succeed - something something.
