Questions about page numbering & Graphs

I am up the walls working on something that I have to hand in soon.

I have a couple of questions on word:

    * I have a table of contents but I want to start page numbering after the contents page. How can this be done?

    * I only have a black and white printer - is there anyway I can fill some graphs with various patterns to get around this.

    Any help will be appreciated

I sorted the graphy question, so I am just left with the page numbering one.

[edit] just saw the word word - [/edit]

If you hadn't specified the OS or Application ( document / spreadsheet ??) then all I can suggest is to download www.OpenOffice.org as it works on most OS's and if you can't find the solution in the help there the come back.

Cut the footer on the first page to blank it ( copy first in case it removes from all pages - version vary) Then paste on to the page you want to do it from. You may need to add a section break if it reappears on the first page.

when you insert the page number in the footer (the left most SMALL icon on the header and footer toolbar) the last option is page to start from.

I have a table of contents but when i start with Page 1 from my introduction, Pages 1,2,3 and 4 pop up in the first 4 pages.

I put inserted a break (contineous) but I can seem to get rid of those first 3 or 4 numbers.

When entering the page numbers in the footers it gives you options as to what style, what position etc. It also says "Start from page..." and you select a number. If you want it to start on the fifth page of your doc select 5..

My apologies - its the 4th button from the left on the header/footer toolbar (inc the big one) and is titled "Format Page Number" - click this and you will see the page number sections on the little window that comes up - click the radio button marked Start at: and increase it to the page you want the numbers to start at..

I got numbers starting from 1 in my introduction but numbers still apear on the table of contents pages that proceed it.

I'll just print document in 2 sections.

    Thanks, ShiverinEskimo.
