    I know of clients but I'm pretty sure there there aren't any publin SMS servers running anymore. I don't see how you can send any for free and usually your phone Op will have a sms online service available.

    I don't think you're going to get a free SMS service from your desktop - maybe X number of free messages from the likes of O2's WebTexts.

    These goofers do a product called Tomcat, I think. It's installed on a server/pc, has a web front-end and uses a wee SMS modem to send texts.

    We're using a Wavecom FASTRACK Modem and GFi LanGuard to monitor network-wide events and trigger SMS messages for the more critical ones.

    O2 used to have an addin for Outlook. It let you send SMS's from outlook as if they were emails. You still get charged for them, though.

    It might still be on their website.
