    Anyone else find this?

It's not just my TV or tuning on BBC2, as it's the same when I record something on tape/DVD and play it back through the AV1 channel.

Yeah just turned on BBC2 and the reds are screaming.
Tennis is on at the moment so it could be an OB thing.
Better off waiting to see what a regular program looks like.

It's not just right now. I've noticed it for months...

Anyone else noticed this (e.g. compare BBC2 to BBC1 or UTV - BBC2 colours are waaaaay more saturated)?

NTL deny there's a problem, even though there plainly is as far as I can see. Can anyone else confirm this, or drop NTL an email about it - customer.support@ntl.ie

Yeah, I've noticed this on BBC2 for the last few weeks - seems to be worse at the weekend

Please let customer.support@ntl.ie know and maybe they'll do something about it...

I'll drop them another email as well.

Sky One seems to be screwy right now too. They seem to be taking a widescreen 16:9 picture and sending us analog customers the right two thirds or it (rather than the middle two thirds, or better yet all of it with black bars top and bottom), so lots of text disappears off the left hand side of the screen.

And if the original source is in traditional 4:3 ratio, the picture is squashed into "widescreen" format, making all the actors look short 'n' fat. :(

*cough* RTE digital transmission test *cough*

If you've any screening issues or DIY wiring around the house it's letting the RTE stuff come in over BBC2.

mambo... i'm seeing the same issue on my TV set. I rang them up (and emailed them) about it and there's an engineer coming out to take a look on thursday.

so yeh - if you're seeing this issue then email them about it so they realise it's an issue on their end and not their customers (actually - do NTL have any other answer bar "no - it's definately not us - must be something on your end..."?).

I'm based in Dublin 12 in case it's a location specific issue (I've no idea how NTL's network is distributed).

Yes, have emailed them. It's changed now... Star Trek is coming out okay in std 4:3, but Brainiac & the ads are being broadcast in full widescreen (need to tell my 4:3 tv set to change to 16:9 format to see them properly).

Actually it's nice to get proper 16:9 widescreen, even though I have a 4:3 tellybox! Maybe they'll leave it that way... :-)

DEFINITELY a problem at their end (or at Sky's end), but try telling their customer service droids that. (Admittedly they probably do have to deal with lots of complaints from clueless customers who don't know how to set their TV/VCR/DVD player properly.)

yeh - i've got confirmation from other people who are seeing the same thing too... I've no problem with programmes/channels being broadcast in widescreen as long as they degrade gracefully for people who don't have widescreen, etc.

I for one won't be going out to buy a new TV in the near-medium future. ;)

I have the same problem with BBC2 - I am in Ballinteer just below 3 rock. A engineer showed up today and me the RTE excuse and then left with out checking anything. He said there must be a problem on the road and would get it checked out. Has anyone had this problem resolved? Is there anyone in NTL or Comreg I can escalate this problem to I would watch BBC2 a lot.

    Thanks.

hey statto most of the time a new drop in your house will sort out the problem of ingress on BBC2. If your outlet box is an older type one the push in type that is, it can also cause problems. I even seen the lead in between the vcr and tv cause the ingress.
