Just got my 360 this morning. Brought it home, set it up and switched it on and boy is it noisey, it has to be 3 times louder than the old one.

Is mine faulty ??? this noise can't be for real !!!

Is it only noisy when using the DVD drive or is it even noisy if your playing music off the hard drive?

I'm planning on buying one mainly for use as a Windows Media Center Extender in the living room and had read previously that it was supposed to be silent, so if its noisy its no deal. So is the OP's experience an isolated one or are they generally noisy?

Have to say after reading loads of stories of bugs/crashes with it in other forums and stuff like how easy it overheats and now that its noisy I'm really re-considering whether I should get it - sounds like it was rushed to market way too fast.

Just to update on this, I spoke to Gamestop on the phone and they told me that it will quiteten down after a while, something to do with intelligent cooling. Anyway it did , less noisey now after being on for the morning.

I'm a happy bunny now, just messing around with all the things you can do with it now.
