Controlling fan on 6800gt

Morning all, Is there any way to manually control the speed of the fan on a Gigabyte 6800gt? Or should I just chop the cable to the fan and insert a hardware controller? I have the card in a HTPC but its just two noisy. Can anyone reccommend some small fan controllers. (not the ones that sit in a drive bay, just the pot…

Morning all,
