Widescreen monitors (16x9) & Xbox 360

Hi all, I'm wondering if you can help with something that's occurred to me.

I'm well aware PC montiors are able to output at the much vaunted 1080i (widescreen) that all 360 owners want to see their games at, but most pc monitors are of 4:3 ratio which would display the game with two black borders on the top and bottom of the screen as the 360 is sending out widescreen signals but the monitor is not widescreen therefore displays in letterbox format.

Am I right in thinking if I were to buy a 16:9 PC monitor, I would be able to see the 360 at 1080i in non letterbox format? (as in perfect widescreen), surely that'd work right?, it'd be half the price of buying a HDTV but just as good... right?

I think most widescreen PC monitors are actually 16:10 rather than 16:9 - this is the case with wide laptop screens anyway, so you may end up with *small* black bars.

Can the Xbox 360 not output 4:3 to a monitor?

Does the 360 ship with dvi or vga? Thought they were using components for the HD no?

The Dell widescreen monitors 2005FPW and 2405FPW are 16:10 - but they're class and have component in, s-video in, VGA in, DVI in. ;)
