    Thanks.

compatible files for renaming mp3 files...??
    Ok iTunes renames MP3s.
iTunes also converts all files to MP3, I think thats what you want.

I tried iTunes but when I renamed the file it was still showing as the previous name in the folder where its located.

Open iTunes, select the song you want to rename, hit Apple+I, anything you change there will change everywhere.

That is because the file name will remain the same, just the format it exists in will change.

Thanks all, sorted now. Lots to get used to coming from 10 years of windows - a week into my mac and I am totally sold :D Except for I cant find a quick way to copy and paste  The ol' right click windows thing was handy!

ctrl + click and you will get the copy and paste menu you desire ..its the same as rightclick

    or

    apple + c = copy
    apple + v = paste

or get a "more button" mouse and you can right click :)

congratulations ... welcome to a new way of life...

Actually, if you use Ctrl and C and V on your Windows machine, you get this shortcut as well, Felix; most keyboard shortcuts on Macs work on Windows using the Ctrl key instead. I think that is one reason why Windoze users struggle on Macs; they are reliant on the mouse for almost everything.

Anyway, glad to her your flying on a Mac now...
    :)

Cheers for the tips/help. I have to say, not even two weeks now since I got this and I cant believe how much I love it! Its one hell of an addictive machine :D

Thought it was sick over the weekend though, it was on standby and all of a sudden I could hear a loud noise coming from it (calling it "it" seems wrong!), as I got nearer to it I found it was just the fan kicking in - had not heard that since I got it but it had been on for several hours and I was burning some DVD's too. Anyway, gotta go get me some more pointless widgets :D
