Hi, sorry if this has been asked any number of times, I'm very interested in getting Freeview/FTA but haven't a clue about dishes etc

thinking of getting for me, and maybe for my mum's house

am in kilkenny and been quoted €390.00

    1. is there not cheaper options ( no sky dish etc at either place)

    2. secondly I am in a ground floor apartment, probably a daft question but can I erect a dish within the hieght of my apartment (i.e. not attached to the 2nd floor) and still have no problem with reception etc etc

    3. Do people find it worth the cost as opposed to Sky offers etc ?

    thanks for the time :)

If you have a landline sky's basic package for a year costs 258 euro. Height is only an issue if there are obstruction in the way. The sat you need to align too is roughly where the sun is at 11 am

E390 is really quite a lot for an FTA setup...

Can you not install yourself? E200 will get you the required kit with cash spare for a second dish ;)

myob I dunno if I am capable, thatswhat I'm trying to work out

I've no landline, mum has, 258e might be an option for her, she's mostly housebound, would help with the boredum I think

Aren't those Lidl offers freeview, or...maybe not (= clueless)

You need a bit of skill to put together the lidl systems.

The benefit of subscribing to sky is that you get all the equipment and standard install for free and you own the equipment after the 12 month contract is up.

There is mooted a sky offer minus a phone line as they now realise that its the way to go for more growth what with mobiles being more common in some estates now than land lines.

Tony or byte might have details on that, it was byte I think that I saw mention it.
