Just wondering does anyone have any experience of this and how much is it likely to cost

got quoted €533 to Denver via Heathrow with British Airways all in yesterday, can probably only manage to get a week off incl Friday/Monday at either end

accom should be sorted because apparently we can stay with friends of a friend in Breckenridge so, how much for ski passes (we won't need ski school), equipment hire etc? anyone any experience of this?

Ski passes in europe (Austria) are about 160-180 for a week. AFAIK america is more expensive, probably up to double that. Google the resort as i'm sure the prices are there.

As for equipment again in Austria it's 70-100 for the week. I think that's boots and skis. Again google should be your friend here.

    cheers Imposter

that's what I feared (the prices) and when I googled it seems to cost at least 300 euro for a 5 of 8 day pass for example, and that's not including equipment hire

that may well be pushing the price out of my range, we'll see

we spent time travelling around america, snowboarding. did about 19 resorts. Colorado is the most expensive place. For example Aspen is 75 dollars a day. You can get deals but you have to stay about 20 miles from the resort. Much better value is canada and not half as busy. Tahoe is also very cheap and there are tons of resorts at all different levels. utah also represents better value and much better terrain/snow, but there isnt as much craic. Although saying that we had a ball in park city.

If you could fly into calgary, rent a car, there is alot around there. Kicking horse is amazing and worth the effort.

    Ergo,

Breckenridge is in Summit county and you don't have to limit yourself to the one ski area. There are a number of other resorts you can bus to rather easily; Keystone, Copper Mountain and Arapahoe basin to name a few. Arapahoe basin (aka A basin) prides itself on staying open the longest, normally shooting for July 4th. I once had a timeshare in Vail and would go up to Vail around the 3rd week of March for the American Ski Classic (pro skiers and celebs). Still decent skiing. There are also booklets sold by the schools that have discounts for the ski areas. The supermarkets typically have discounted ski tickets. Depending on what time in the season you come the ski areas will discount tickets. If you would like to pass on some details of when you will be here I'll investigate further for you.
