advice needed-p45 and emergency tax

hi!
im 16 and am starting a part time job.I have had a few other jobs but im not sure what the situation is with emergency tax?I did not hand my p45 anto my last job but no tax was deducted from me, i had heard that it would be.I have a p45 from that job now.do i need to hand it in to the new job?
Any advice would be appreciated!!!

hand in your p45

OR

Get the tax office to issue a statement of tax free allowances to your current employer. see www.revenue.ie for phone numbers (under Contact details).

You need your RSI / PPS number and your emloyers number handy.

do you have any idea why i wouldnt have been taxed emergency tax the last time?I never handed in a p45 or sorted it out with the tax office.

You answered your own question there : "I never handed in a p45 or sorted it out with the tax office."

As a result your employer had no basis on which to apply tax so they have to apply emergency tax.

Ask your former employer! They might have been doing you a favour or skimming the 'tax' for themselves....
