Thinking about joining the Army looking for advice

Hi all,

As the title suggests I am thinking about joining the army and am looking for some advice pro's con's preferably from someone who has or still is in the defence force. I am 18 years of age and am of a reasonable height and built so I have no doubt that I could handle it physically. I also have a fairly good leaving cert, however i do have a slight criminal record for public order offences would this effect my chances?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Being convicted of a serious offence by the Special Criminal Court or a Civil Court bars one from enlistment.

Minor Public order offences would not be viewed as serious criminal offences.

were u charged with sumthing before u turned 18? if so it gets wiped

i wouldnt join the army tho, sh1t pay, sh1t hours + i dont handle taking orders very well!!

Depends how you handle authority.

Teamwork is the keyword in the army. Individuals rarely last.

The army pay is pretty good! once basic training is completed it's a 9 to 5 job and in the glen every now and again! not as secure as it used to be if you just inlist, but can be a good carrer!
