Recently my brother modded our xbox, except now when ever we turn it on the power LED fashes from green to orange repeatedly. I took apart the xbox again and had a look at the soldering, now it looks pretty dodgy tbh ( dont let the brother hear me saying that though :D ), you guys think that it could be that?

Take a pic of the soldering.

It more than likely is a bad solder.
If you can turn off the chip and the xbox boots normally, the soldering needs to be redone/cleaned up.
Do you know what version Xbox you had?
Find your serial number and look at the sticky at the top of this forum, the one with Handy Modding Links in it.

that was my first thought too. try another video cable as the green/orange flashing occurs when the video cable is plugged out

    What BIOS(es) is(are) on the X3?
It should load the Cromwell 'Legal' Bios that it shipped with if it was soldered/installed correctly.

I've an X2.6 on a 1.6xbox, when the chip is 'off' (fallback to the MS Dash), the 'ON/OFF' switch LED on the Xecuter control pcb is red (ie. modchip is disabled).
When the chip is turned 'on', the ON/OFF switch LED is green, and everything comes to life and lights up.
There's a decorative blue led on the modchip pcb itself, that's just to indicate that you're actually getting power to the chip.
Until you boot into the cromwell BIOS, the chip isn't installed.
