work problem

Background A couple of weeks ago myself and (supervisor) had
    a private one to one
in relation to my performance here in ******, there was nothing outstanding
and it was believed that I was doing a good job and settling
in well. This was just before (super) went away on leave.

While away I assumed I would need to perform the duties of ******* according to my job spec (attached), I found myself
being darkly stonewalled when allocating work to other members of the
team, and thus had to do the majority of work myself.. this created some problems for me which I later made(super)
aware of, when he arrived back from leave he never addressed these issues I
had raised, as I was now based in another office I couldn’t have a one to
    one with (super).

While based in another office another member of the team had told me that the
people I was trying to allocate work to had been telling both (supr) and
(manager) that I had been doing very little over the
period that (super) was away, this could not be further from the truth, and
despite having no evidence to back up their claims it seems that both
(super) and (manager) have formed an opinion of me based on this feedback. Hence
there has been a warning issued
to me which is now on my file, according to my contract of employment I
have 30 days to appeal this.

    what to do...

This is why 'documentation' is so very important.
Was there a written review by your supervisor stating that you were doing a good job (before he left)?
And when you were allocating work to other members of the team, did you use e-mail or were they just verbal requests?

It is always a good idea (even if you are going to verbally ask) to use some form of written medium, whether e-mail or intraoffice (interoffice) memo, even though it may seem mundane and impractical for small work environments.

I would recommend that you appeal the warning and submit the details of the work allocation to your supervisor and manager. For example, state what work was assigned and to whom, and the results (e.g. you had to do it yourself). If this is investigated, and at least one of your co-workers lie, then they may get caught out in this lie, which could then change the perception of the investigation. By fighting the warning, it also shows that you are able to stand up for yourself.

    Best of luck.
