    http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/1.5/

The homepage hasn't been changed to reflect this yet, so consider yourselves privilaged :D

Just downloaded and installed now myself, and aside from some cosmetic changes, and incompatible extensions being disabled I don't see a whole lot different on the off. That said, I haven't gone to tinker under the hood yet. The memory footprint certainly hasn't gotten any smaller though, its currently clocking up 57MB(!) according to my task manager.

    But anyway, here you go.

Can't find a mention of this on MozillaZine .. you sure this isn't just Release Candidate 3?

Nope, About is clearly stating FF1.5.

Ive been using RC3 now for a few days and its says that its version 1.5 in the about box anyway...
I mentioned on another thread posted here today that theres speculation RC3 might be 1.5.

Still though, this still looks like the official version.

Either it's the exact same as 1.5 RC3 or this isn't the official release.

The md5 sums are identical, look:
    d0cbbd5d8c47fe36ee8f26fb1255838c ./win32/en-US/Firefox Setup 1.5.exe (1.5)
    d0cbbd5d8c47fe36ee8f26fb1255838c ./win32/en-US/Firefox Setup 1.5.exe (1.5RC3)

build number still in the titlebar, very poor work tbh

    Not for me...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,248 ✭✭✭Duffman

My point was that it may well be the official release but it's possible that they haven't changed *anything*

Well, either way. The official 1.5 is available from the official site now. British version ain't out yet though

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 299 ✭✭roamer

The RC3 version available is the exact same as 1.5.
I would imagine they waited until all the mirrors updated before actual *official* release.

mozilla.com also has a new look!

Are you sure that's not just cos you're using Nightly Tester Tools?

    hey all,

Downloaded and installed FF 1.5 for the first time today. I have a gmail account and use the (official) gmail notifier to alert me when new mail comes in. With IE I could double click the notifier icon and it would log me and take me straight to the inbox.

With FF set as default browser when i click the notifier it takes me to the login screen of gmail and i have ot login manually.

Is this just a 1.5 prob or did it always work with FF like this?

And I know there is a gmail notifier extension but I want to use the gmail official one so i can know if mail arrives when i don't have a browser open.

    cheers

I both like and dislike migrating to new versions of FX, on one side it's good cause it's something new to play with ;) but on the other hand, now I have to track down all 50 extensions I use and update them, and of course not all of them will work with 1.5 yet(if ever), so I lose some functionality for some time :(

    Using it now, no problems.

irlrobins, look in gmail notifier preferences for "Automatically Log in".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,484 ✭✭✭✭Stephen

Most of my extensions worked on 1.5 without any intervention from me :)

Is there some sort of an error or does it just not display it. Have you tried re-installing it?

to auto login. I only have the options to use gmail for mailto links and to select which browser opens on clicking the notifier.

Flash player recently updated to version 8 did it not? Coud this be a problem?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,217 ✭✭✭Matthewthebig

    its updated and nothing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,484 ✭✭✭✭Stephen

Flash player 8 breaks the flash overlay in the adblock extension, but otherwise it should be fine. I think Adblock was updated to work around this too.

You need to uncheck Obj Tabs in Adblock preferences. It's a known problem with Adblock and the latest version of flash.

You have to uninstall adblock and then reinstall it, same happened to me not long ago.

edit: just installed 1.5 - whats with the gigantic status bar like blob at the bottom?

Uninstalled/reinstalled 1.5 and the bar is still there, tried to reinstall 1.0.7 it installed fine but plain wont work, did a system restore to yesterday and firefox wont work with that either. There doesn't seem to be any use for this bar or any options to get rid of it, tis very odd.

    Anyone else have same problem?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,208 ✭✭✭✭aidan_walsh

Yep, had that happen when an incompatible extension decided to die and take the browser with it. If you are uninstalling, try deleting your profile\extensions folder in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\profilename\Extensions

Recently swapped my home LAN users from IE to Firefox.

On 933MHz PC XP Pro, 333MHz XP home and 1.8GHz XP pro laptop it is perfect.

On An XP Pro 1GHz, 450MHz Win2000 laptop , 450MHz Win98 and a 400MHz Win2K PC it is BRAIN DEAD. Takes about 10 times longer than IE to load pages.
