Cheers for the heads up! Very cool of you to post this info.

The MCD site says the tickets will be on sale on the 7th of december not the 2nd as NME are saying...

Man the point is the worst venue in Dublin.
Its almost putting me off going to see them.

They're much suited to a smaller venue, I remember seeing them in Temple Bar music centre with the Moldy Peaches all them years ago....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,753 ✭✭✭qz

So is it the 2nd or the 7th that they'll be on sale?

The point SUXX - has all the accoustics of a barn.

Why, oh why did I miss them in the TBMC and the Olympia?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

I dunno, I only seen 'em at Oxegen but I thought they suited the big stage very well. Arena should be no different.

Won't be able to see them this time though. :v:

Must be very likely that that will sell out quick and they'll add a second date.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 274 ✭✭Beastieboy

    Ticket master says this-

"The Strokes have confirmed that they will perform in the Point, Dublin on 20 January 2006. Tickets go on sale Friday 2 December at
09:00." this in new events section however if you search for the storkes the show in the point doesn't come up.....

MCD say tickets on sale on the 7th.....

It hardly matters the tickets won't sell out for ages, i'll probably check in ticketmaste in stevens green tomorrow

Strokes = one of the best live acts around
The Point = THE single worst venue in the world.

Fair play MCD, bunch of ****.

are you joking? they will sell out very fast, tickets are only €33.20! I bought up 10 last time they played the olympia, I had loads of people and foafs after them. they were selling for €150 outside the olympia.

    My thoughts exactly
I bought up 10 last time they played the olympia

So its thanks to c unts like you that fans like me didn't get to see the show. Can we ban this fu ckwit under the present anti-touting legislation on boards?

fu ck you kunt, I am not a tout, there were all for mates, arsehole...
I even started a guide on dealing with touts here before

I got mine this morning, had lot of trouble with the c/c and it seemed like there was lots of delays, likely due to orders.

Using your insider knowledge no doubt - anyone who buys 10 tickets, then finds 'buyers' for them afterwards is a tout. Have a nice day touty.

I'm hoping it sells out so that they add saturday night....

I could actually see them adding an extra Ambassador/Olympia show for Saturday moreso than a second Point date.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,609 ✭✭✭comet

well that'd be good, seems like they've sold out their 2 nights in both Manchester and London.

I don't know if you are a bit simple or just have just made up your own story from the few words I said before. I didnt "find any buyers afterwards", I bought 10 after we decided we were all going. I asked around as I was going into sound cellar to avoid the online fees. Then I had lots of foafs looking for them too since they sold out so quick, as I had 10 they thought maybe some would pull out.
Touts were selling for €150 outside.

anyways, does anybody know if their sat night is free?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,643 ✭✭✭magpie

Presumably a saturday date would devalue the 250 tickets you've bought for 'mates' rubadub?

    Wishful thinking TBH

and you are asking for me to be banned!, you're some gobshlte. this is the second time this week some fool has read a post of mine, then made up their own little story in their meagre minds and then call me a liar, like the other fool you have probably re-read the post but refuse to admit that you could possibly have picked me up wrongly.

I know all about the touting rules here, I hate them and have written tips on how to screw over touts. Do you really think I would come on shouting about being a tout even if I was? knowing how they are viewed here?

heres the link if anybody is interested.

Just got my ticket in sound cellar, I saw an ad in the Irish independent today saying the tickets would be on sale next wednesday....It would be ****ed up if anyone queued next wednesday morning since they are already on sale.

If your 'mates' were big enough fans they could've bought their own tickets - its people like you block-buying tickets that prevents fans from getting their hands on a single measly ticket for show like the Olympia one.

So, presumably, if one of your 10 mates hadn't been able to go, and the many many foafs hadn't been able to make it, you would've given away your last ticket at face value to a fan rather than flogging it for €150 to a tout outside?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,585 ✭✭✭honru

Ah magpie now, does it really matter? I think it's only fair to assume that rubadub bought tickets for friends, which is completely fine.

The gig was years ago, and they were apperantly on stage for only 45 minutes. I wouldn't have been happy about at.

Go see them at the Point. Get up close and you'll forget it's an arena.

Why should all 10 of us have to trek into town and get tickets individually? or would you have been happier with that? have you ever bought more than one ticket at a time? what number do you start getting upset at? 3,4?
We could have all ordered online giving ticketmaster a good €30-40 more

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,643 ✭✭✭magpie

Well, the usual allocation is 4 per person isn't it? Which is why you advise going to SoundCellar in your other post, as they ignore the allocation and allow you to buy plenty of 'spares'

usually it is 6 these days. So 4 is the number you get upset at? And yes that is why I advise the soundcellar, it saved 2 of use having to journey into town to go into HMV

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 385 ✭✭radioman

To be fair maybe rubadub is genuine, but anybody buying up 10 tickets to a gig is raising suspicions straight away. 4 per person is very fair, I'd even suggest making it 2 per person. If you like a band so much you should have no problem whatsoever 'trekking' into town yourself to get a ticket for you and a mate/partner

Are Soundcellar an official Ticketmaster outlet? I'm sure TM would love to hear that they're flouting their rules

€4.15 service charge? What the fook is that all about?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,609 ✭✭✭comet

Yes ticketmaster charge are a very very high per ticket service charge, i think this argument has been well worked through at this stage.

It is €2 in ticket agents. Sound cellar used to charge less than others but I think they are all the same now. My mate works right next to sound cellar and gets us tickets the odd time. Just pisses me off now since I found out I am not a true fan of lots of bands I have seen, damn I should have paid the extra €2.15 or travel all the way to town to prove I am a real fan...
