My bf's dad picked one of these up in the E2 shop in Waterford. It's nice looking, clear blue plastic and is apparently USB2.0 compliant

What could be more naff than a 12" Fibre Optic Christmas tree with flashing multicoloured lights that plugs in to your computer ? :D

Can also run on a pair of AA batteries and you get a CDR in the box too.

you can get a 6 foot fake christmas tree in b&q for €5, no lovely lights on it or anything.

Is the USB hub working ok for everyone?

Works fine on my pc but not on the laptop (DSL Modem and a printer connected to it)

Are these circular with a light in the middle when plugged in? I bought one in Newry for £1 said they're usb2 but my pc say otherwise.

Try plugging in the hub on it's own and waiting 30 seconds and then each of the devices at 30 second intervals.

Some drivers are so bad that they reinstall the device if you plug it into a different usb port..

BTW: re USB 2.0 - read the back of the packet again - it could be read to mean they will work WITH a USB 2.0 computer :D And you don't really need 2.0 for mouse , keyboard , floppy etc.

I've had a mouse, keyboard and christmas tree on one.
It's USB 1.1 - but cheaper than a USB extension cable.

Chipset is ALCOR 9254, ( Low cost version of AU9214 )

Wasn't there a fuss a while back when USB 2 was introduced? They introduced USB2 High Speed and USB2 Full Speed. USB High Speed was 480 Mb/s, whereas USB2.0 Full Speed was only 12Mb/s, the same as USB1.1. As fas as I remember, this allowed USB1.1 products to be relabled as USB2.0 (Full Speed) compliant.

Does anybody else remember this, or is my memory playing tricks?

I saw (and bought) one in the poundworld where Virgin used to be on Henry St, Dublin.
they were downstairs, BEHIND the staircase (where the posters used to be when it was Virgin), though I think i paid €4 like a sucker :(

that said, it works, though it's only USB 1.1 (so dont go putting a 250gig external drive on it)
