    Word,

I was just wondering if anyone knows of any Hotspots In Dublin that work with Nintendo's WiFi. Will it work in the Mc Cafe on Grafton Street? Or O'Briens on Westmoreland St?

    Regards,

Hit up Stephen's Green, Ive found 4 that work with my PSP for free in there :) I reckon the DS'll have no issues.

    ...and also for Cork?

(I heard a [pretty funny] McDonald's ad this morning where they were claiming 50 outlets around the country now have free WiFi - there's nothing on their .ie site, but surely a list exists somewhere)

    Well,

I tried it in McDonalds on Grafton Street and it connected but Eircom wouldn't allow it access :(

If McDonalds were to enable free WiFi anywhere, This would be the likely outlet so that seems like rubish (or else they haven't done it yet)

Where abouts in Stephens Green Centre? Is it in That restaraunt on the first floor?

looking for cork ones here also....

I've tried a good few "open" (ie. unlocked on the DS WFC menu) hotspots but no luck at any. This includes the SMART wifi across the city, the BT Openworld hotspots mainly in O'Briens (which sucks because BT openworld are supposed to have a deal with nintendo, at least they do in the UK :( ) and even a couple of netcafe ones (web workhouse for one, this was the one we got furthest one.... all others just stayed on testing connection for ages, this one mentioned something about unable to obtain IP address and check DHCP settings... however the guy there said hes had a couple of PSPs able to get online there easily so i dunno :/ )

if anyone knows one the info would be much appreciated!

AFAIK, you have to ask for a voucher/token to allow access to their WiFi.
Have a look and search in the Wireless forums for hotspots..
(Presuming that the DS can connect to most standard WiFi infrastructure networks..)

With the McDonalds one you go to the counter and ask for a token thingy. On it has the pre-share key to access the network, but the type of encryption thats used is not supported by the DS so I don't believe it will work.

I was actually in the Lucan McDonalds today but didn't have my DS on me! I'm gonna bring it to the Food Court in liffey valley before work tomorrow and see what the story is. What's this wifi voucher everyone's talking about? I'm sure if I mentioned it to the McDonalds ppl they wouldn't have a clue what I'm talkin about, even if they spoke English which is a bonus!

Its a bit of paper with a code and instructions for getting online. Most of them opperate on a login to a web page but the DS dosn't support that.
