I am thinking of heading there early-mid December, what is it like and what is there to do? I really don't know much about the place. I would be there for 2-3 days, is this an OK amount of time to spend? I'd be interested in cultural stuff, museums, parks, etc and also nightlife, which bars are worth going to. I'd like to listen to some fado at least one night.

Are the locals helpful with tourists and do they speak English/Spanish? I don't really know Portuguese.

wtf? It's nothing like Spanish !

Lisbon is good, Estoril and Cascais is better.

You can travel by train easily enough as well.

  • Thanks for the info.

Portuguese IS like Spanish by the way. It isn't pronounced the same, so is probably incomprehensible unless you have a high level of Spanish and can guess at the words but written, it's really similar. All Portuguese people understand written Spanish and vice versa. I understand it fine, I just can't speak any cos I've never had a lesson.
