FAX CCITT fax stream - how to display ( borked PDF's )

I'm trying to recover scanned docs. They have a PDF 1.3 header with a CCITT stream in the middle, just like a fax. Anyone know how to display this info ? The main problem is I can't be 100% certain where the stream starts and IIRC the fax format is one line at a time so should be able to frame shift till get clear content.
