Deleting Files Through DOS

    i have a file on my desktop that wont delete. i cant move it. it is stuck. is there any DOS command that will allow me to delete it from the desktop?

    CD to the desktop, obviously..
    del nameoffile.ext

    cd "C:\Documents and Settings\User\Desktop" //changes directory to desktop
    dir //list contents of desktop
    del file.exe //deletes file.exe

    When you try deleting it does it say the file is currenlty in use?

    Have you tried deleting it when in Safe Mode?

    If deleting from cmd didn't work/

    From the task manager kill all but vital processes, then try deleting. You could just reboot into safemode and then try it.

    deleting in safemode deleted it just fine

    if you must know an episode of family guy that was acting the bollocks. needed to be renamed from .exe to .avi but it wasnt having any of it
