For the whole phone line requiremnet if you want multiroom, does anyone know if sky insist on your phoneline being with a certain provider such as Eircom, or do you just need an active phoneline. Reason im asking is because im thinking of swithching to magnet braodband which will mean they are will also be my phone provider, would there be any problem in this.

Is it a VOIP type phone service as I'm not sure the digibox will work with this.

It is the same setup as smart telecom.

AFAIK smart use eircom landlines so if this is the case then you should be ok.

Ask Magnet this question and post back the answer you get .

"Will an analogue modem or a sky digibox be able to connect to a remote device across the analogue port ( or POTS port) of the Magnet Set Top Box"

surely Sky are going to have to reassess their insistance on new accounts having an active phoneline? As more and more people switch to VOIP, they are going to lost potential customers. At least if they made it possible to connect to a VOIP system things wouldn't be too bad.

Was onto magnet last night and they told me that there would be no problem in using a sky box, and went as far as to say that they had an "agreement" with sky about this issue, whatever that means.

AFAIK, Sky no longer insist on active lines. They just charge an extra €38 (cheaper than 2 months Eircom line rental) onto your first Direct Debit withdrawal?

    even for multiroom?

No. Multiroom, as outlined before has to be tied to the phoneline, or, you pay full price for 2 subscriptions.
