new patch needs 3000MB free?

    Hey, does this patch need 3000MB free on the c: just to install?
    I mean whats the story with that?
    Ive tried installing on other drives with gigs free but no use.
    Any help?:(

    there is a workaround

    run through the installer and when you get to the point where it says click next to install the patch...
    go to your temp folder, look at the most recent folder, there should be a weird named file and another folder. copy the contents of that folder to your bf2 directory and run the patch exe file.

    the problem is with installshield wizard.

    I ran into this problem (:mad:) and googled it like crazy. I found that workaround, but I also read that the patch is causing various other nasty problems (e.g. crashes to desktop - people unable to play at all).

    So I am holding off trying to get it installed (in the hope that they will patch the patch (the muppets)).

    Anyone had any problems with the patch once it is installed?

    The EA workaround for this is to edit this key in the registry :


    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ProgramFilesDir

    It points to "C:\Program Files" by default.

    If you change the value to "E:\Program Files", the patch will look for 3000 MB free space on drive E instead of C.


    I haven't had any problems with the patch but then again I'm one of the ones that has never had a problem with any of the BF2 patches and have never had a CTD.

    p.s. out of the 4800 BF2 servers, there are only 221 ranked 1.03 running so you can't hold off applying the 1.12 patch forever and it does fix some bugs too :)

    i cant even start up the game any more, i start it up and it crashes at the black screen, nothin after that. kinda weird coz bf2 worked perfectly with the other 2 patches and now this...

    anyone else getting problems after new patch? taking bout 10 mins to connect to acc server and about 5 mins on whatever i click on ie. click multiplayer it starts to load but unresponsive for about 5 mins.
