The National and Ticketmaster

I bought a ticket to this gig way back in August. The ticket never arrived. I emailed ticketmaster about 3 weeks before the gig, which was on the 19th November, to let them know that the ticket hadn't arrived in the post. They emailed back asking for the credit card name and billing address. I replied with that info and got an email back to say that the ticket had been sent to the correct address way back in August and that I would have to wait and email them 5 days before the gig before they would deal with the problem.

So I emailed them 5 days before the gig to say the ticket still hadn't arrived. Ticketmaster said they'd leave a duplicate in the box office in Whelans and that I needed to bring my credit card and my confirmation email as means of identification. I turned up to the box office that night only to be told they didn't have a ticket with my name on it and I wouldn't be able to attend the gig.

It's now over a week later and I've emailed ticketmaster twice to let them know that I was "done", but they haven't gotten back to me. What do I do?! What do they usually do in this situation?! Anyone else have similar problems?

Start making phone calls, rather than e-mails. Talk to someone in ticketmaster, then ask to speak to their manager, then their manager, until you get a refund for the tickets plus your expenses.

You should try post this in the consumer issues forum, there are people there who would probably be able to give good advice. What a bummer though, that would really enrage me:mad: I wouldn't stop until I got a private gig courtesy of ticketmaster:D

I was purposely sending emails so that I had a record of exactly what I had said and what they had said back. But you're right...obviously my emails aren't getting me very far!! Phonecalls from now on I guess.

I hate giving out, but I'm really annoyed about the whole thing!! I'm just curious as to what they'll do. I bet I won't be compensated at all...I bet there's some term or condition that I agreed to...some loophole...grrr!

Got the same problem for a Radiohead gig in the Point 2 years ago.
Never received the damn thing. Ticketbastards never issued a copy of my ticket for me to collect at the box office.

Nothing ya can do I'm afraid. Buy your tickets at the counter would be my best advice if ya don't want to miss future gigs.

    Good luck

Seriously? I paid €20 for absolutely nothing?!?? I paid a credit card booking fee for nothing?! That's a joke! If they tell me they're no gonna re-emburse me, I'll go mental!!!!!

This sort of attitude just allows ticketmaster and other companies to ignore customers and screw them over whenever they like, complain complain complain until they make recompense and then complain some more

If you paid for them by Credit Card over the I/net or phone, here's what you do.

When you get your Credit Card statement, ring the CC co and tell them
you DON'T know anything about this charge.
They will ask you to put it in writing.
They go back to the retailer (T/M) and query it.
T/M's Bank will send the slip "phone booking" to them and they send this to you. This takes approx 40 days!
When you get the slip ring/write to the cc co and say "I don't know anything about this"
CC co will then ask T/M "was the ticket used" etc and when they say NO,
    end of story.
CC co will refund you your total amount and they get it back from T/M.
Let CC do the leg work for you.
    p.s.
Pay the full amount you owe them or the interest will mount up.

I've already paid the bill though...will that make a difference?

To be honest, I wasn't planning on even contacting the credit card company (it's BOI mastercard). I want ticketmaster to do it all...they've wasted enough of my time already.

Forgot to say, thank y'all very much for the info and encouragement!!
