Why can't the 7N nitelink go all the way into Bray?

    why does the 7N terminate at the woodbrook roundabout? it would serve Bray so much better by going the extra mile to the Main St. or Dart station, where there are taxi ranks to bring people to the rest of Bray, and indeed Greystones and beyond? Can anyone anwer this question? I know the 84N serves Bray and Greystones,as does the Finegans nightbus, but these only operate on a fri & sat

    Well late night DART is back for the Christmas I've had details for ages but IE have kept quiet as is they want it to fail http://www.platform11.org/news/news.php?year=2005&no=17.html

    Nightlink has been tweaked up for Christmas so the 84N should appear more often

    Presumably its a demand issue the numbers on the 7N are fairly small mid week, anyway the 7N is the slow way to get to Bray what you want is a 45N or a 145N much more direct route

    yeh, but 84N is just for xmas, and late night dart is 12.30 am, not very late night and again just for xmas, Believe me there is a hell of a lot of demand, watch the amount of people leave the 7N at woodbrook and walk in to Bray, or attempt to hail a taxi. a 145N or 45N would be brill, but the 7N, 46N & 44N cover much of the route already. The 7N is does take awhile to get to Bray, but it picks up people in Dun Laoghaire, where a lot of people from Bray would go out.

    WOW, a whole 1 extra DART on a Friday and Saturday.....They're really pulling out all the stops this year aren't they !!!!

    It would serve much better but in fairness the 7N is allways packed as is. Stops 2 mins away from my house! I lived in Greystones for a while too though and that was a nightmare to get home. Had to get the 84N which took over an hour, 9 times out of 10 I'd be asleep!

    You seen it on a Wednesday? its dead maybe 15 people tops thats the very reason a limited service is run weekdays, demand has reduced such that there are fewer on Friday and Saturday than before and yes on Saturday its jammed on the 2am 7N

    The DART is a joke but if you can use your weekly or monthly ticket to get home at 12.30am instead of shellling out 4 euro I'm sure it will pick up a fair bit of business after all the last Luas is 12:30am during the week, Dublin Bus an d IE need to note that normal fares apply

    The reason there is no night bus to Bray mid week is there is not enough demand, this is the reason why all the nitelink services have been cut back over the last two years. A small number of departures on Fri/Sat nights are very busy but the rest are very quiet.

    Mid week it is not uncommon for the many of the nitelinks to be carrying less than 20 people each.

    Ring up Finnegans (who incidentally objected to Dublin Bus running any night service to Bray in the first place) and ask them why they don't run to bray Monday-Thursday. I'll bet it is the for same reason, insufficient demand.

    i get the no demand argument, but what im asking is that whats one extra mile for the 7n to go, even if its just on its 2.30 departure mon-thurs.
    A taxi to Bray is €50 from town, since its outside Co. Dublin , though only €30-35 on the meter, this is why we need nitelinks. Leixlip, Dunboyne, and Ashbourne,and Balbriggan all have nitelinks mon-wed, yet all of these towns are much further than Bray from town.

    the departure times of the 84N have also been pushed back recently. Previously it left town at 0130 and 0330 - perfect for people leaving pubs and nightclubs respectively. Now it leaves at 0200 and 0400, so an extra half hour hanging around the city centre for most people.

    Leixlip = 17 km
    Bray = 19 km
    ;)

    google it if you don't believe me

    67N is a bad service. Celbridge Maynooth.

    12.30 and then 2 and last one is 3.30.

    When cant it join with the 66N and do a complete cycle off Lexlip, Maynooth and Celbridge and could be every 30mins instead of every 90mins.

    I have the problem is where the 2 is to early and i can be waiting around town for the 3.30 bus

    my bad, though that was my point, the 7n won't go the extra 2km to Bray main st/Dart station.

    I'm not certain but I believe the reason that the 7N does not cross the Dublin/Wicklow county border has something to do with either the terms of Finnegan's Licence for the route or a compromise regarding their objections when the route was extended further than Loughlinstown.

    It is a pity though, as Bray Dart station is a far more appropriate terminus.

    The problem relates to licensing....Finnegans hold the licence for the late night service to Bray. Dublin Bus hold the licence to Greystones, with the right to serve Bray en route (the 84N).

    The 7N cannot be extended to Bray as Finnegans hold the licence for that service already and it is very unlikely that the department will issue DB a licence such as that as Finnegans would object.

    It is not Dublin Bus' fault here. You should contact Finnegans with regard to the service as they hold the licence.

    No Luas are charging €4.

    Ah but the 12.30am departure is still a normal service and normal fares apply only the 1am onwards are €4

    Dublin Bus have the nerve to charge €4 for the 12.30 nightlink in light of this and let us hope IE dont have the same idea, where is competition when you need it ?

    It is the Department of Transport - Licensing Section.
