Gut feeling

I was thinking about gut feelings last night after I bummed out to a series of bad beats.

I had a strange feeling for my first tournament live 1st place a while back. Before the game even started, actually, on the way over in the car, I had a feeling in the pit of my stomach. It felt great and I said to myself, I can win this. Having never gotten to the money before in a big live game, or even the final table, I was still positive it was going to be my night. I won the first 6 or 7 hands in a row, taking out 3 players who were all in. I was chip lead for the rest of the game until it came down to 4, but soon after I was back up, and after a few more hands it was heads up. It felt sweet.

Similarily, I've had the opposite feeling. And gone out in the first 4/5 hands, with a bad beat, and knew before the hand it was going to happen. I've also, looked down at AA or KK pre-flop and knew they wouldn't hold.

Anyone ever feel this way. Good or bad?

yeah but its only in yuor head. try to just concentrate on doing what you think are the right things. the gut feeling during hands could be the fact that your subconscience can work out the order of the cards and is telling you to fold or call. thats why you go with your gut on things that your an expert at and try and work things out on things that your not. read a book called blink by malcom gladwell he explains the phenomen well.

I understand where you’re coming from. Any good results I have had, I have had this feeling before the game or after winning the first race but I think it’s down to playing positive when feeling positive and the opposite when feeling negative

    I knowm what u mean.
I went the roscrea casino for only the 2nd time on thursday week last. Just before i went in I said to one of the lads on the phone" sure a few of u have won a few quid, I'll go down and win it" sure enough I left with €1k.
For some reason I knew I would, made the right calls all night, def made the right folds.
