TODAY failed for a number of reasons. Lack of support and members. Too many goals. No contacts in the political scene already.

This group is the coming together of a few teenage anarchists, with a realistic goal and tons of enthusiasm.

Thanks for the support, pop down or email me if ya want.

Out of curiousity, what has this got to do with Punk ?

Have you posted the same notice on, say, the Jazz/blues forum ?

Gonna riot on my own :D

That looks more like a business seminar than anarchy, very organised indeed. Will there be tea and biscuits too?

Not involved in this initiative and i don't know Sam but thought i would try and deal with some of the sh#t thats been posted up anyway just in case someone thats interested is turned off by the inane comments.

1: Anarchy isn't against organisation just hierarchical forms of organisation.
2: In relation to the "shower of muppets" "won't work" posts start a thread in politics on why anarchism doesn't work and we can have a proper debate.
3: I assume Sam posted it into the Punk section because much of the scene is infused with Anarchist thinking and many Punk bands and Punks would consider themselves Anarchist.

Well theres no anarchist or political youth section. Punk in my mind has a lot to do with anarchism.

    That clear things up ok?

    Er, no, not at all.

The *symbolism* of anarchy was used by Vivenne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren in manufacturing the imagery around the Sex Pistols and their other endeavours circa 1974 - 1978. Rather than quote a myriad of supporting references, I refer you to "Englands Dreaming" by Jon Savage, widely regarded as an authorative work.

The association between punk and anarchy was created and is maintained by the marketing department.

''The political ideology most often associated with punk is that of anarchism. A lot of punk activism has been done in support of anarchist goals. Whether a punk subscribes to anarchism or not, he or she almost certainly is discontent with his or her government. Punks are often very active in trying to change their governing political systems to some extent. When punks engage in activism their demands can usually be described as progressive. Despite the similarities punk may have with the left wing, many punks perceive the efforts of the left as ineffectual and sometimes just as objectionable as the right wing''.

Punk nowadays as a lot to do with anarchism and vice versa. Whether its through anarcho punk bands, punks going to demos, punks and anarchists fighting together on the streets etc....etc...

So anarchism is the only way of thinking that's discontent with the present government?

I believe in the minds of many it is!
But anarchism doesn't work in the REAL world

It works if people understand what it is and want it to work, as Nestor Makhno for example did in the Ukraine. It's like saying the interweb doesn't work because nobody owns it.

    The U.S. government owns it.

It's the stereotype that all punks are anarchists.
    Quite silly really.
