GF - Ill fitting Boots - Gonna Wreck My Head - Help

My GF bought a pair of high heeled, knee high boots from Barratts some months back. She didn't wear them much as they were a tad uncomfortable due to the lining. The lining inside the boots joins just where her toes might be. I hope your following me as it's a tad akward to explain.

Anywhoo my recomendation to her was to bring the said boots to the cobbler and she if he could fix them for her. Seemingly though he looked at them, ripped a hole in the lining (where the lining joins) and told her he couldn't do anything for her.

When I get home my head shall be wrecked that he runied a €120 pair of boots that she can't wear! Anyone got any advice on how to fix the problem or a good cobbler to go to?

    Many thanks!

Nag Nag Nag Nag Nag - Save me from an eternal nagging!!!

Buy her a new pair? Surely he should fix them if he tore them apart?

Buy her a new pair???!!!! Not a chance, they cost me €120 first time around, and they didn't fit her comfortably because of the lining. So I'd have to spend another €120 and have the same problem from the first time!
Yeah I agree he should fix them, seeing as he did rip rather a sizeable hole in the lining. But he did say there was nothing he could do with them. And anywhoo it's his word against hers. I don't think she'd like a big arguement over it with him.

No- there must be some tip or trick to solve the problem, or else there's a really good cobbler out there!!!

Could you return them to the shop and say the damage was was due to dodgy manufacture and get a replacement.

Did she buy them herself or did you buy them for her?
Didn't she try them on first before spending away 120 quid on them ??????

    Hi FX,

Yeah I suppose we could do that, it was only 3 months ago and we still have the receipt, but it's not completely honest.
Hey Nasty, I bought them for her, but she choose them. She did indeed try them on before spending the moola, but it's hard to tell these things I suppose when your just walking up and down the shop. It wasn't the most obvious of problems.

Yeah it's not honest but sure it doesn't cost them that much. Terrible attitude, I know.

Well FX, it seems with some encouragement from her friend she's taken your advice! She popped in there today and changed them no problem thankfully! Thank god for that! Really women and shoes, I just don't know!!!!!

I guess at the end of the day they made the bad lining so it's their fault the cobbler ripped the lining.

There GAS looking are you sure there not yours :D haha

But being serious if she still has a receipt from the shop bring them back and see if you can get your money back or even a credit note of them.

Perhaps it wasn't the most serious issue, but when the lady has an expensive piece of footwear she can't wear due to a 'design fault' shall we say that was just made worse it tends to go on and on. Moan Moan Moan.

Yeah I thought they were a bit funny looking alright when she got them, but they looked cool on her. Not what I would have liked initially, but she proved me wrong!
She did keep the receipt and it was sorted out.
