Someone was telling me to leave a bowl of water in front of a gas heater. The thing is ancient and could be leaking, says it get the gas.
Is this true or is he having a laugh?

gas heater , having a augh
    funny man bobbyjoe.
most gases have odours artifically attached so youcan smell it if it's leaking

The gas heater isn't leaking. If it was, it would explode.
The bowl of water isn't for leaks, what it does is absorb some of the odour and most of the Carbon Monoxide that is produced with the burning.
In short- place a bowl of water in front of/ on top of your gas heater and it will make the room safer and more comfortable to be in.
And change the water every day.
    Hope this helps:rolleyes:

All gas heaters emit Carbon Monoxide, whether they're old or new.
The dish of water should be used regardless
