Hi, appreciate a response to the following. I am about to buy a laptop. It will be used for college work, and as a replacement desktop pc. I need at least 1gb ram, at least 1.5ghz processor/Amd 64 bit processor. I would prefer to keep the weight to a minimum, under 3kg. I also will need Integrated wireless 802.11b/g, and a DVD dual layer burner. I will have about 1500€ to spend. At the moment I am looking at Acers, but I recently saw this one, fujistsu siemens.
The Acers i have been looking at are as follows:
    Acer TravelMate 3002WTMi
    Acer TravelMate 3212WXMi Centrino
    and
    Acer Aspire 1694WLMi

i am not too keen to get an Apple, would prefer a pc. Also would require at least 128mb graphics card. Cheers for taking the time to read. And any suggestions are appreciated.

These guys have a nice range of Acer and Fujitsu. I have been dealing with them for a the past few days and they are excellent, respond to my emails within minutes. They are also located in Swords so you can just go pick up your order. If you have a look under the Amilo A header they have the 1667G for 1501E.
    It has a AMD 64 4000+
    Gig of ram
    128 ATI Radeon X700 PCIE
    DVD
    WLAN.

Everything you need and spot on your budget, buy it now :O, they are offering free 24hr shipping :).

I'd avoid acer - cheapy feeling laptops with a bad record.

Have a look at fujitsu Siemens:
Amilo M 1437G - PM 750 (1.87), 1GB RAM, 80GB SATA, WXGA Crystal View 15.4" TFT, ATI Radeon Mob X700 128MB, spkrs + woofer, DVDRW DL, 4in1 card reader, remote control, modem, lan, WLAN, firewire, XP Home SP2, Works 8.0 DVD for €1501

    OR

Amilo A 1667G AMD Athlon64 4000+, 1GB RAM, 100GB, 15.4"WXGA Crystal View TFT, 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon X700 PCIe, DVDRW DL, 4in1 card reader, remote control, WLAN, LAN, Modem, Works 8.0, XP Home SP2 for €1501

I have an older version of the A1667 and if you dont mind a bit of heat, and 1 1/2 hour battery life its a great laptop. Personally, now I'd probably go for the M for the longer battery and cooler running though :)

Cheers for the replies. Just a quick one about the Acers, do they get pretty hot quicker then other notebooks or is it just poor quality. Never actually seen one was just relying on what other people on here had to say about them.
Got a leaflet in the door yesterday from Harvey norman, they are selling a HP Pavilion zv6252ea notebook. Looks alright: Amd Athlon 64 3200+, 1 gig ram, 100GB hard disk, dvd dual layer, 15.4" lcd display, for €1300. Just wondering what yis think. I noticed commited that ye said in an earlier thread below that ye wouldnt recommend HP.
So the general feeling on here is that I should go ahead with the FS, Pentium M?

My dad got a top of the range HP laptop from work (contract, no other choice on company). Anyway, it's nice looking, but thats about it. The screen isnt up to much and it seems to perform way below spec..

If you like the HP laptop, go for it - what graphics card does it have? Remember the A64s run hot.
