Anyone know what caused the massive tailbacks on the N4 last Friday (the morning of the snow). The roads did not seem that icy, yet it took me 2 hours to get from Enfield to Kilcock. It was fine after that again.

    Jesus Christ.

Sorry, can't tell you what caused it. I'll hazard a guess that it was overcautious driving, and maybe roadworks or something . They're supposed to be upgrading the N4 in Lucan but that shouldn't have affected Enfield (and afaik they're doing it at night).

I know what your on about, entered the ringroad at enfield heading toward dublin at 7.30, reached M4 at kilcock at 10.00!!!!!!, there was an accident between a car and a truck at the roundabout on the dublin side of enfield, got to that about 9.30.
They just left the vehicles there and waited for the cops to show up, therefore it took me 2 hours to travel the length of the enfield ringroad!!!

Saw something worse on the sliproad down onto the M4 at kilcock.
A 40 foot truck had slipped on the westbound exit at the roadworks and caused about a 3 mile tailback.

    Cant wait till 12/12.05
