i have to disagree ryan is an example of how presenting should be all about!!He talks to the listener as if he was talkin to his mates!!!He doesnt put on an accent and most important of all its sounds good.I dont know what other people think?

As strange as this might sound, the very fact that those DJ's have been listed above proves that they are quite effective in their roles.

when you where posting this thread, those names sprang to your mind, which leads me to belive that like them or not, they are well known and well established, and currently very successful.

Like when an ad is really really annoying, you find yourself humming the ad tune to yourself, or even talking about it amongst your friends.

Annoying or not, it caught your attention and the whole point with radio presenters is that they grab your attention and keep it.

Most of the Adrian Kennedy listeners cant stand the guy. Yet they tune in to argue with him, its strange but true.

Its a good point you make i must say but the fact of the matter is they are annoying,fake and most of all bad presenters.I picked the dj's who i thought most people would hate.You have to take into account that there are only 10 slots available!!!!!!!

I agree that some of them are annoying, and I also agree that some of them are fake, but I don't agree that they are all bad presenters.

Seriously, think of the competition out there. Think of all the young hopefuls that cant get a break. The reason they cant get a break is because these guys, no matter how annoying, are pulling in the ratings.

Radio is cut throat, if the ratings drop the presenter is axed pretty much immediately, stations aren't in the habit of protecting presenters jobs if they are not bringing the listeners in.

All I am saying is, as much as you don't like them, they are still quite good at what they do, and if they weren't, these stations would drop them straight away!!!

Well if you look at most of the presenters on the list the majority of them have been droped at one stage in their career.Which means that there ratings have droped because people would rather swith to another station because they are annoying or they just plain dont like them!!!

• It leaves out many many many presenters

• Many of the presenters listed are excellent at what they and what they're paid to deliver by the stations they're on

Martin King lives down the road from me uncle, hes a gas punter, he takes requests from the punters in the local newsagents just to fill the time on his "weather" forecast....decent skin at the end of it...just a bit of a chancer thats all

Good idea, cant stand her. Zero talent. She shud marry rick o'shea n live somewhere where radios are barred.

Ah well you may have hit the nail on the head (I assume when you used the word ryan you were referring to Tubridy not Gerry) - the fact he (Tubridy) does sound like he's talking to his mates is what makes him such a poor broadcaster, it's not just his mates he is supposed to be talking to. His style of broadcasting may well be the chummy dj, having a bit of a laugh about just about everything in life, but is it right for the slot he has been put in and the Radio station he is on? There is already plenty of choice for that kind of banal chitter chatter radio. The listener numbers have declined since he came on board, and I am sure they will go down further over the next year. RTE called this one horribly wrong. Wrong man Wrong time. Listeners are leaving R1 at 9.00 am because of Tubridy.

Ryan Tubridy, Gerry Hannon (Limerick radio personality...infamous for trying to get a rise out of Frank McCourt on the Pat Kenny prog a few years ago), Ian Dempsey, etc.

All the aforementioned names royally **** me off. We can certainly do without their "entertainment".

Yeah these two are terrible, especially Gerry Ryan - he is a 'bit' over-confident in his abilities.

Fenton or marty Whelan are the 2 I'd pick from the list above.
