Just formatted & installed XP 64 last night & I must say, it really has improved things. I was running XP Pro but had held off from upgrading because of the lack of drivers.

Well what do you know, no problem with drivers! Ati cat 5.11s running beautifully, 54G wireless supported natively in the OS, modem, lan, everything installed & running perfectly!

I never ran any games, just used the lappy ocassionally for surfing etc. but I installed a few games, COD2 etc. I'm VERY impressed at how they are running.

    Specs are:

    AMD 64 3000+
    512 DDR
    15.4" Widescreen @ 1280x800
    Radeon Mobility 9600
    54G wireless etc.

I had it advertised for sale due to a lack of use but, surprisingly, didn't have any interest here on Boards  .

I'm seriously thinking of keeping it now though, given the excellent 64bit OS is flying!

What do ye reckon it's worth anyway lads? I thought €1200/1250 quite a reasonable price, given the spec - it has nearly EVERYTHING on board, no dead pixels & has never skipped a beat. Slightly better specced Acers are near enough €2k  .

What should I do? Sell it (for how much?) or keep it & look forward to all the 64 bit apps due next year?

I'd keep it if I were you, you'll start to see 64-bit apps in the near future.

As long as you don't have a Canon printer/scanner you'll be fine :)

I have an IP4000 but it's on the network. I did download the 64bit driver but haven't tried it, yet! Will try it later ;) .

    Ran a few benchmarks: 3D Mark '01 > 10,500  .
    3D Mark '03 > 3,500 .

Awesome graphics/gaming performance from this laptop.

Kramer, I too have an IP4000 (and an IP4200 also) and I uninstalled XP64 about 2 months ago because Canon were refusing to release any 64bit drivers except for the IP9000. Thanks to your post I see that they released 4000 drivers on the 14th Nov.

Looks like it's time for another Windows reinstall :)

    Thx for the info !

p.s. CD-Labelprint is still 32bit so no printing to CD's with this driver release.
