Question about blinds

I have heard the phrase "defending your blinds", which is what this is about.

1)If I am on the BB and someone min raises, should I call, even if I have sh!te, just so I'm not giving away my blinds without a fight?

2)If I am on the SB and have sh!te, is it worth calling, hoping the BB checks and I get a "cheap" flop?

Any advice on this or any other aspect would be great.

Defending your blinds is not always folding your blinds to a raise or always folding your SB instead of completing.

If you are min raised you should almost always call. You are getting at least a 4-1 chance on your money/chips.

From the SB you can just call but if the BB is going to raise when you call and you then fold you are throwing money away. If others have called there's often less of a chance of the BB raising.

As with most things in poker it depends on how many players are left to act and what they are likely to do. This is what your decision should be based on rather than a "do xxx in BB and yyy in SB".

Any chance of a link where I can read up on this kind of stuff?

That's jujst common sense. If the BB is 2$ and the SB raises to 4$ (min raise) then it costs you 2$ to see the flop. Cost 2$, pot when/if you call 8$. The same situation exists when you are in SB that you have to call 1$ when there is already 3 in pot, except in this case the BB can raise you.

Pretty much the worst chance you can have to win the pot when Heads-up preflop is 20%, so even if pot odds aren't there (they usually are) the implied odds are there.

If you don't know what pot odds or implied odds are then either google or get a book on poker. Lee Jones' "Winning Low-Limit Hold'em" (if you're pretty much a complete beginner), or Sklansky's "Theory of Poker" (if you have a bit of experience) would be my suggestions for books.

Its also good to call a few times so ppl dont start pushing you about.
Being bullied off your BB all the time is very noticable to others, and it can put you on major tilt if your short stacked
