problems with registry on dell optiplex gx150

I have a second hand dell optiplex gx150 and loaded a copy of windows ME(licensed) onto it after formatting it. the problem is that it nows gives the error "Windows encounterd an error accessing the registry, Windows will repair the registry and restart" all the time. I installed new memory(as memory is most times the cause of this error) and it still gives the error and also swapped hard disks and the error is still present. I even downloaded error nuker registry checker and it fixed the registry errors it found but it still comes up. My question is... what do I do next? no idea maybe it is the motherboard or the computer itself that is bad. any suggestions would be helpful.
    thanks.

try this maybe? resets the hard drive to 1s and 0s as needed. Better than a repartition and a format. Runs from a bootable floppy or CDROM.

As always, make sure you back up all your data!!!

(Try to get your hands on a Win 98 SE disk, much better than ME when updated and patched. Will run well on your gx150.)
