Yes, you can, the analogue signal is still there. When they install ntl digital they usually install a splitter with one output going to the TV's RF input and the other going to the ntl box. However in my case at least, the picture on Digital is far superior to the one on analogue (which is why I got it in the first place), so I can't see any reason to do that to be honest. And if you're going to do that, why keep the ntl digital service at all?

That's assuming you are on cable, of course. From your location, you probably are. But if you are on MMDS, you can't do it.

you have to have analogue in order to use ntl digital

the over compression on digital channels is the big downside to digital tv

    Thanks for the info lads.
Really annoying that the use such a crappy compression. Looks crap on a large screen tv :(

That probably has more to do with SD versus HD. When people go off and buy really big TV's, 40" or bigger, they are always surprised when they bring it him and connect it to a SD TV transmission and they find that it sucks.

Basically in Ireland you are wasting your money buying big screen TV's until HD TV and DVD's (Blu-Ray, HD-DVD) become available.

If you use teletext you still need to use the analogue service.

Exactly. And what a lot of people forget is that a rule of thumb also applies. The bigger the screen the further away you should be, particularly with LCD.:)

Thats not true. Teletext works fine on the digital feed.
