    Well,
haven't bought it yet, but it's got no rust and no replacement panels needed. It would need to be stripped.

Hi, any chance of putting up a *ballpark* figure for a respray?

I'm looking to price up the whole job; buying a classic, parts, bodywork, respray etc.
Target is a 1971-73 Karmann Ghia/Beetle, which would be stripped prior to spraying.

Reason I want to know in advance is that if it's very expensive (€3000) then I'll try and buy one close to the colour I actually want!
Gunmetal grey if I get a cab, mustard if it ends up being a Beetle, metallic paint ideally.

I'm in desperate need of help - last week my car (1989 Porsche 944) was attacked with what I think is either paint or paint stripper! It's
been liberally poured over the bonnet, roof & sides of the car meaning that my baltic blue paintjob is now completely destroyed! Thanks to the bast***'s
for the early Xmas present, not the nicest way to wake up in the morning. In addition, they also helpfully arranged to dent the rear mud-guard panel -
not serious I think this can be popped out.

Now, although it is a Porsche, its an OLD Porsche - I am not Bill Gates or Rockerfeller - I dont want to be ripped off because i drive what some regard as a high-end car. To me it's my 'baby' and I'd like it back the way it was.

I realise that providing a quote over he forum may not be the most appropriate way of doing things, so if you could give me a ballpark figure, either via private email, or sms (087 644 3425) it would be greatly appreciated. I'm not looking for exact values +/- 4-500 Eur would be an appropriate guess I would think without you guys having seen it. I'm, waiting for a Porsche specialist to get to my place to have a look at the damage, but I more than willing to hold off on a decision if you think you can help me.

I look forward to hearing from you,

    Cheers & Thanks in Advance,

    Paul A.
    With Best Regards

    hey manta man

there are a lot of minis down carlow way. Anyway we could do with having a few small area repaired, late minis have terrible trouble under headlights and at base of doors... could ya send me a meassage with an idea on prices for some localised repairs.

    cheers

my experience with paint jobs is that you cannot get a good cheap job. ie, a good job will cost you and a cheap job will be ... a cheap job. It is hard for a pro to quote you over the net, there are so many aspects to take into consideration.

Stripping and masking time (screens off?)
    Bodywork
Priming and flatting (dont save on this, it is the most important: look in those corners)
    Paint quality and painting skills
    Refitting (screens?)

I would think though that €2,000 would see a reasonable paint job (screens off) with a good paint on a saloon car with no rust.

    Am I in the ballpark?

got this now nearly extinct vw golf in this week for total respray.
its going to be snowflake white.
not sure i would have picked that., but its what the customer wants .
what would be a nice colour for this car ?
any one got any of these cars out there, we need a boot lid + bonnet to finish.
    can anyone help please.
