my origional problem was that when i searched for access points i could see the eircom one. but when it was testing its connection i got an error code.

here is what i did to get it working:

    go to
    http://192.168.1.254/
(or what ever your default address is for your router settings)

for my wireless at home i have it encrypted with WEP-Automatic, and i got an encryption key of 10 charecters. (take a not of this key as you have to enter it in in the ds wfc settings).

also, in my home, i have the wireless restricted to only allow machines with certain mac addresses through. to do this i went to: "wireless" from the menu on the left, then clicked "Advanced Configuration Options" on the right, then scrolled down to "Limit Wireless Access by MAC Address:"

you can find your your ds's mac address in the options>options of nintendo wfc settings. simply just add your ds mac address to the list.

after all that i still had trouble.... i had to set a manual ip address for the ds.

im sure there is a simpler way of doing this but it worked for me!

My DS doesnt pick up my eircom neotopia router at all.

Anyone know the best place in town to try and get the usb dongle nintendo have brought out?

Get the USB dongle thing from Play.com.

do you have any other devices that work?? like do you have a laptop that connects??

you possibly may not have wireless even enabled on your router! are you sure its wireless? is there a little antenna sticking out of its side?

Yes I'm sure its wireless. I use two computers wirelessly with it. The ds doesnt see it at all however.

I've found a temporary solution in moving my airport express (which the ds does pick up) down beside my other router and setting it up as a base station. But I'd still prefer to find some other way of doing it, like getting the dongle - but its sold out on play.com

How do you set the IP manually? Do you just edit the last digits of your IP to a random number or something?
