i need to be slapped in the face
and to have something stolen from me
and i need someone to displace
    this rising fear into

it feels like nails pulling out
    scarred cuticles and picked skin
and a head so full and devout
that these lies are scaring me

    i can make myself believe
    anything i want me to
and i can blind myself and heave
things tragic but numb, left behind

and it frightens me; what's inside
    seen through split fingers
    so grainy, off white
and it frightens me; what's inside

    of me

makes me think of sin city. take that as a compliment cos i loved that flick. i guess that has a lot to do with the title too though. a dark poem that doesnt reek of teenage angst is also a rare thing on here i feel. good work
